Before you hire an editor
Before engaging an editor to look over your manuscript, it is recommended you do as much work as you can by yourself. The first draft of a manuscript is usually only a starting point and it can take several rewrites before it is ready to show anyone else. If you can do some self-editing and development yourself first, you will get more value out of the editorial process.
(See more info on the FAQs page.)
Rates
Bothersome Words’ edits are tailored to each project. No two manuscripts are the same and they rarely require the same amount of time or effort, even if they have the same number of words or pages. For this reason most there are no rates displayed on this site for most services – though a few special services do have set flat or hourly rates listed.
Before giving you a quote, Bothersome Words will need to see a sample of the manuscript and discuss your requirements for the edit in terms of the end result you wish to achieve, how much work you are willing (or want) to do yourself, and any budget or time concerns.
